Self-knowledge is the foundation to effective planning and decision making. Your teaching, advising, and services give students every opportunity to learn about themselves academically, personally, and professionally.
Some of the ways you contribute to student Discovery on the Pitt Pathway:
• Cultivate introspection and reflection to increase student
self-knowledge.
• Administer formal or informal assessments that give
students feedback about themselves.
• Encourage meta-cognition-student awareness of the
ways in which they learn.
• Teach students to self-assess their learning.
• Challenge students to clarify their values.
• Encourage reflective writing or journaling.
• Uncover, cultivate and reinforce the talents, skills and
abilities of your students.
• Give students frequent and constructive feedback about
their strengths and suggest ways in which they can
improve or progress.
