Provide students with academic, personal, and professional opportunities to investigate and expand their interests, values
and abilities.
Some of the ways you contribute to student Exploration on the
Pitt Pathway:
• Help students to recognize real-world applications of
what they are learning.
• Encourage students to diversify their strategies and to
adjust their approaches to learning according to the task
and subject matter.
• Encourage an awareness and appreciation of diversity.
• Have students interact and work in teams on projects
or assignments.
• Provide opportunities for site visits, sponsor panels, or
informational interviews for students interact with
professionals engaged in areas of interest to them.
• Encourage students to take courses or to be involved in
activities that appropriately challenge their comfort zone.
• Help students to examine who is making the decisions in
their lives or the basis on which they are making decisions.
